How to Lose Weight Fast for Teens
It’s not easy to be a teen. This is the time of your life when you’re hit by hormonal changes. Teens grow very quickly, and this can be a good thing as well as a bad thing.
It’s good if you exercise regularly and have good, wholesome food. Not so good if you don’t exercise at all, and have only junk food. Having excessive junk food will only make you obese. A lot of teens in the West are either overweight or obese.
So what to do if you are overweight? How to lose weight fast for teens? Follow the tips given here, you will be just fine.
#1: Join a gym
The most important advice I can give you is to workout at the gym for at least 3 hours every week. Fitness experts say that weight training is absolutely essential to weight loss. Burn fat away with squats, push-ups, bench presses, lunges, pull-ups and other simple but effective exercises. It is also important to combine cardio with weight training. Make it a point to go on a 30-minute run as soon as you get up in the morning.
#2: Stop skipping breakfast
Many teens skip breakfast in order to lose weight. This is not a smart strategy. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you skip breakfast, you will experience hunger pangs for the rest of the day, and to curb them, resort to binge eating. This is not the smart way to go about things. Skipping breakfast – make no mistake – will make you fat!
#3: Don’t eat anything after 8 pm
Finish your dinner before 8 pm and don’t eat anything after that. There’s a reason for this. Late night munching leads to weight gain as much of the food is stored in the body as fat. It’s okay to have green tea before going to bed, but apart from that avoid food completely till it’s time for breakfast.
#4: Stop eating processed foods
It’s time to cut cakes, sausages, crackers, biscuits, chocolate, fries and ice cream from your diet as they are full of simple carbohydrates such as sugar and saturated fats – which lead to weight gain. They can also lead to a spike in your cholesterol levels.
Avoid binge eating on such foods entirely. If you have a habit of ordering pizza or eating out at your favorite fast food center, it’s time to put an end to that. Just say no to processed food or anything that contains trans fat.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have fun with food. Prepare sumptuous green smoothies and veggie salads. Munch on nuts such as almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts, chestnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, whenever you feel hungry.
#5: Fad diets are not good for you
Avoid diets that require you to starve yourself. That’s just not healthy. You should have healthy, wholesome foods with a lot of protein, complex carbohydrates, unsaturated fats and fiber. Your meal plans should be healthy and well balanced. Avoid fad diets as they lead to nothing more than the loss of water weight. As soon as you get off the diet, you will pick up all of the lost weight and some.
#6: Avoid Aerated Drinks
One of the mistakes many teens looking to lose weight make is to have Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke, assuming that they are okay just because the adverts tell them so. No, they are not – they fill up your body with calories, not matter what the companies tell you. It’s the same with all sorts of energy drinks – they are full of calories. Just avoid them completely. Instead, drink a lot of water, at least 12 glasses of water a day.
I hope you liked the tips given here on how to lose weight fast for teens. As usual, I look forward to your comments, so keep them coming.
